Nvidia has announced plans to restart shipments of its H20 AI chips to China, contingent on U.S. export license approvals. The MOVE comes after an April ban forced the chipmaker to cancel orders and relinquish reserved production capacity at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). CEO Jensen Huang noted that re-establishing these production lines could take up to nine months due to TSMC's reallocation of assembly lines.

Demand for the chips remains robust in China, where they are used in automated manufacturing and robotics training. The U.S. Commerce Department has signaled willingness to approve the exports, though final clearance is still pending. Separately, Nvidia is developing an RTX Pro GPU tailored for the Chinese market, designed to comply with U.S. export controls.

Huang sold $50 million worth of Nvidia shares this week under a prearranged trading plan, capitalizing on the company's soaring valuation amid the AI boom.
